How do you calculate the volume of your furniture in m³?

A volume is worked out in metres: length × width × height. A 55 × 35 × 50 cm box gives 0.55 × 0.35 × 0.50, or 0.1 m³ once rounded.

  1. List your furniture room by room, including the cellar, the balcony and the garage.
  2. Count your boxes by size: a standard box counts as 0.1 m³.
  3. Add up the catalogue volumes, or let the calculator do it with every click.
  4. Remember the small things that add up: lamps, rugs, suitcases, bikes.

Catalogue volumes follow the tables used in removals, for assembled items. They can therefore exceed the simple product of the dimensions.

A composite piece, such as a bed with its base and mattress, counts once. The catalogue already adds up its parts.

Long items count too: a rolled rug, a surfboard, a ladder. The catalogue gives them a volume, like the rest of your furniture.

The volume is checked at your home

On pickup day, the team checks the volume with you before loading. Any price increase needs your agreement.

Compare your result with a typical home

These volumes are rough guides, based on typical homes. Yours may have more boxes or less furniture: the calculator gives you your own figure.

Indicative volume and storage price by home

Studio flat5 m³unit ≈ 2 m²€95 per month
1-bedroom flat8 m³unit ≈ 3 m²€152 per month
2-bedroom flat12 m³unit ≈ 5 m²€228 per month

Indicative volumes, checked with you on pickup day.

Unit size: for comparison only, the floor area of a storage unit filled 2.5 m high. We charge for the volume stored, not for floor area.

The “Storage” column applies the current price list: volume rounded up to the next 0.5 m³, minimum 3 m³. The unit size is only a comparison, for anyone who thinks in square metres.

Above 30 m³, no price is calculated online: we prepare your quote with you. The towns we serve are listed on our service areas page.

Reduce your volume before the pickup

  • Sort before you count: anything that will not come back home need not be stored.
  • Choose boxes of the same size: their volume is known in advance.
  • Put books in S boxes: a large box of books quickly becomes too heavy.
  • The billed volume is rounded up to the next 0.5 m³: a few boxes fewer can bring you down a step.

Before you pack, set aside what is refused. Dangerous or pressurised products, food, plants, animals, cash and jewellery stay with you. The full list is in our terms and conditions.

Questions about calculating your volume

How do I calculate the volume of my furniture?

Multiply the length, width and height of each piece, in metres, then add them up. The calculator does it for you, room by room or item by item.

My home does not match the typical contents: what should I do?

Switch to the “By item” method: your rooms are carried over as a list, and you adjust each item with + and −. The volume updates with every click.

Is the volume calculated online final?

No. It is used to estimate your price. The volume is checked with you on pickup day, before loading, and any increase needs your agreement.

Why is the billed volume sometimes higher than the calculated volume?

The billed volume is rounded up to the next 0.5 m³, with a minimum of 3 m³. For 4.2 m³ calculated, the billed volume is therefore 4.5 m³.

Do boxes count in the volume?

Yes, each box counts according to its size. A standard box (55 × 35 × 50 cm) counts as 0.1 m³, a small book box as 0.05 m³.

What storage unit size matches my volume?

Divide the volume by a storage height of 2.5 m: 10 m³ matches a unit of about 4 m². It is only a comparison: we charge for the volume stored, not for a unit.

What if I have more than 30 m³?

Above 30 m³, no price is calculated online. Send a quote request, call us or message us on WhatsApp: we look at your case.
